the future of our youth. The jobs and education
that the Corps provides are key to helping
disadvantaged youth become productive members
of society.
This
Capital Campaign will provide a permanent home

The
Corps has been operating out of temporary
(and overcrowded) quarters ever since the
first Corpsmember enrolled over 20 years
ago. The new home for the SRCC will consist
of two buildings in South Sacramento adjacent
to the 47th Avenue Light Rail Station. The
combined facilities will provide approximately
22,000 square feet of interior space for
vehicle and equipment storage, classrooms,
computer lab, career center and administrative
offices. This is double the current space.
The
design and construction plans for the SRCC
Education Building, are being developed around
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System.
LEED's Green Building Rating System centers
on reducing the impacts of buildings on the
environment and contributing to a sustainable
future. Projects
achieving LEED Certification are energy efficient,
use renewable and recycled resources, achieve
reduced carbon output and measure indoor
air quality to maintain healthy working/learning
environments.
Construction
for both the Education and Operations Buildings
is expected to commence in July 2007 with
the staff and corpsmembers occupying the
buildings by the end of the year.
